Jessica is a hard-working woman, but in 2013 she took a “bucket-list break.” After earning a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History, a Bachelor of Education, a Master’s in Education, and a Principal’s Certificate, all the while gathering 8 years of teaching experience, she now has her eye on a PhD so she can teach at a university level. But first, in the words of Monty Python, “Now, for something completely different . . . ,” she took time off to travel the world (16 countries and counting!) and cross things off her bucket list. She started with a leap of faith by jumping out of a perfectly good airplane . . .
She started a blog, too. It is NOT just about going places and doing things: it is a vehicle to encourage others by using her stories as examples of what a “regular”, non-superhero-powered person can do with her life, do in this world. In her blog’s header, right under the title, is a quote from C.S. Lewis: “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
From the blog’s About page: “Turquoise Compass encompasses living life to the fullest and taking advantage of every opportunity that comes up while navigating through life to make your dreams come true. Turquoise Compass means traveling, teaching, navigating, learning, and trying new things . . . Trying something new - Yes! Do you want to try it?- Yes!”
And she says, “This new life I have created is exhilarating and I have no idea where it will take me . . .” Jumping into the unknown, “into the mystic . . .” – methinks she has internalized the words of Helen Keller, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” You GO, girl!
