- What mean this word, "can't"?
At age 11 Tavi Gevinson started a popular blog and soon become a name in the international fashion industry. Yes, age 11 – that is when she started her fashion blog for “tweens.” Two years later she was the cover story of Pop magazine. Two years later – now at age 15 – she launched another site for teenage girls (Rookie) and within five days had over 1,000,000 page views. She may be young, but she is a force to be reckoned with. And that’s not just within the fashion industry.
This young lady is no dummy: she is highly intelligent, articulate, poised, talented, and full of spirit. Watch her speak on a stage at a TED conference (click here ) and you’ll see that she is probably going to go far in whatever direction she chooses. Note that she has begun to sing and act professionally (in 2012 she was the voice of a character in an acclaimed animated short Cadavar with Kathy Bates and Christopher Lloyd, and she had a role in the film Enough Said with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini.) Currently she writes the blog thestylerookie.com, which is a great example of skilled writing. Seriously, many college grads – even English majors – do not write this well! She is also the founder and editor-in-chief of RookieMag.com, which is a site for teenage girls by teenage girls.
Remember, at this point she isn’t even old enough to have a driver’s license! Apparently she is NOT waiting for the starting gun . . .
