Dale Price
Dale Price
Gender: Male
Focus: Parent
Reason: Smile-ify'er
Story:

Dale Price is considered a “cool dad”, maybe even “the coolest dad in Utah.” At the beginning of the school year in 2010, on the first day of school Dale walked out his front door to wave to his son getting on the school bus: no big deal. BUT ON THE SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL, Dale went outside in costume – a Chargers football player -to wave at the bus . . . AND THEN ON THE THIRD DAY OF SCHOOL - Anakin Skywalker . . . and a lumberjack, doctor, mariachi band member, Spartan warrior, ninja, Snow White . . . and he hasn’t stopped since.

Barbie Thomas
Barbie Thomas
Gender: Female
Focus: Challenged
Reason: What mean this word, "can't"?
Story:

When Barbie Thomas was 2 ½ years old, she grabbed the live wires of an electrical transformer box and the electricity entered her arms and exited her legs. Her arms were burned to the bone - both had to be amputated at the shoulder – and her legs were badly burned. She nearly died. This, of course, shaped her life: everybody can see that it would. How it would, though, nobody imagined: though armless, she became a competitive body builder and a model!

Anne Mahlum

Reason: What mean this word, "can't"?

Anne Mahlum is rather remarkable: she has discovered that a great way to get homeless people back on their feet figuratively is to get them on their feet literally, that running clubs can re-ignite the light of self-confidence. What started as a little idea she got while daily running past the same people outside of a homeless shelter in Philadelphia has become a non-profit organization with a more than 6 million dollar operating budget and chapters in several cities from New York City to Los Angeles to Boston to Dallas to Atlanta to Indianapolis and . . . more.

Larry Powell was on the top of his world and then . . . it fell out from underneath him.

It took time and work to get himself back on his feet, and one of the things that helped him was the wisdom of written words. Eventually he gathered his favorites and put together a book, Life’s Little Book of Survival Quotes.

From the preface of his book:

Liz Murray
Liz Murray
Gender: Female

Liz Murray is a demon-fighter if ever there was one.
