Jessica Morey

Gender: Female
Focus: Society Builder
Reason: Illuminator
Story:

Jessica Morey is not your average young American woman: after high school and before college, she bought herself an airplane ticket to Burma (Myanmar) to spend three months in a Buddhist monastery where meditation was maximized and speaking was minimized. (I know Jessica, and although she is not one of those people that talk always and endlessly, she is so full of life I can’t imagine her being nearly silent for so long!)

Jessica (Turquoise Compass)
Jessica (Turquoise Compass)
Gender: Female
Focus: Adventurer
Reason: Illuminator
Story:

Jessica is a hard-working woman, but in 2013 she took a “bucket-list break.” After earning a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History, a Bachelor of Education, a Master’s in Education, and a Principal’s Certificate, all the while gathering 8 years of teaching experience, she now has her eye on a PhD so she can teach at a university level. But first, in the words of Monty Python, “Now, for something completely different . . . ,” she took time off to travel the world (16 countries and counting!) and cross things off her bucket list.

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera
Shaman Elizabeth Herrera
Gender: Female
Focus: Writer
Reason: X-Ray Vision
Story:

It is my honor to name the author Shaman Elizabeth Herrera as my Hero and Role Model. I’m proud that she is taking a stand and speaking out about global issues that affect us all, as I know that it takes a lot of courage to do that. Also, she has written some amazing books that carry important messages that we all need to hear today.

She uses her books’ story lines and characters to carry explanations of Native American spirituality and to call attention to environmental concerns. So, she achieves the hard trick of educating while entertaining and entertaining while educating.

The Kranstons
The Kranston Family
Gender: Couple or Team
Focus: Society Builder
Reason: What mean this word, "can't"?
Story:

H. and K. Kranston have not sought any public limelight, but their friends consider them slightly larger than life. They work well together (see below) and have built what certainly appears to be a young family happier than many, many others. Surely some of the people who have met them and gotten to know them have said to themselves, “Look what H. and K. have done: maybe I could do . . .”

Katie Haman
Katie Haman
Gender: Female
Focus: Scholar
Reason: Soldier in the Save Earth Wars
Story:

Katie Haman is kinda’ cool, and not just because she studies bugs (coccidian parasites with a 2-host life cycle, to be exact.) No, it is not just because she is a veterinarian who works in disease ecology, specifically the land-to-sea flow of terrestrial sourced pathogens.
